Restaurants in Livigno
There is a reasonable choice of restaurants, cafes and pizzerias, with few that will stretch the budget too far. With more than sixty restaurants to choose from you’ll be spoilt for choice in Livigno.
Livigno has lots of traditional, unpretentious restaurants, many hotel based. Hotel Concordia has some of the best cooking in town. Mario’s has one of the largest menus, serving seafood, fondue and steaks in addition to the ubiquitous pizza and pasta. Bait dal Ghet and the Bivio restaurant are popular with the locals, and the Rusticana does wholesome, cheap food. Pesce d’Oro is good for seafood and Italian cuisine. The Bellavista, Ambassador, Mirage, Grolla and the Garden are also recommended.
For specialities of the local Valtellina Region in an ‘old-world’ atmosphere try the Ristorantes La Rusticana, Stalet, Camana Veglia or La Piöda. What you won’t find in Livigno are many specialist restaurants offering dishes beyond Italian – in common with most other resorts in Italy the inhabitants of Livigno see no need to waste time with other national cuisines when Italian is so good. In addition to local food specialties the Valtellina area produces some excellent wines, including the ‘almondy’ red, Grumello Doc, best with cheese or red meat and the less full bodied Valtellina Doc, suited to first courses, white meat and soft cheese.
Livigno’s ski area offers 6 mountain restaurants and 2 self-service restaurants, as well as plenty of après-ski bars. Here are some of them. La Grolla at lift 23 is a great place to sit out in the day and have a snack and drink in the sunshine. La Mirage, which is situated just about 100m up from La Grolla and always is very busy, is a traditional Livigno restaurant with quite cheap prices and great food. Oblo is primarily a seafood restaurant. Costaccia Restaurant has a good selection of pizza, hot dogs, and cakes.
