La Skieda: International Telemark Festival in Livigno
La Skieda was and is the most beautiful, fun packed and fascinating international week-long event dedicated to Telemark skiing. The first ever Skieda was held in 1995 and its success consolidated a tradition which has allowed the Spцl valley to become the meeting point for Telemarkers from every country in the world. The week-long Livigno Free Heel Fest is a great opportunity to discover the free heel skiing on the sping snows of Livigno.
How does it work? Every day at the Free Heel Fest it is possible to explore the peaks around Livigno, in the company of expert guides. Along with them usually there are important names from the world of telemark skiing. There are treks covering all levels of difficulty (intermediate and expert) to satisfy all the participants in the event.
A number of side-events take place during these seven days. Free Heel Fest fills the resort with cultural events including a film festival, a photographic exhibition and a dance competition in period costume. A huge concert in the main square concludes the festivities. This make this week a unique and special encounter with sport and amusement in a week devoted to lovers of free-heel skiing.
The next Free Heel Fest will be held from 20th to 27th March, 2010.
